Is Invisalign right for you?

Invisalign works well for a wide range of alignment issues:

  • Crowded or overlapping teeth
  • Gaps and spacing issues
  • Mild to moderate bite problems (overbite, underbite, crossbite)
  • Relapse after previous orthodontic treatment

Invisalign may not be the best fit for severe bite misalignment, significant jaw discrepancies, or complex tooth rotations that need more force than aligners provide — we’ll give you an honest answer at your consultation. If traditional braces would get you a better result, we’ll tell you, and can point you to our Orthodontic Treatment page instead.

How does Invisalign treatment work?

  1. Consultation and digital scan — a digital scan of your teeth (no messy impressions) and a review of your alignment goals.
  2. Custom treatment plan — we map out the full sequence of tooth movements and show you a preview of your projected results before you commit.
  3. Receive your aligners — a series of custom clear aligners, each worn about 1–2 weeks before moving to the next in the sequence.
  4. Regular check-ins — brief appointments every 6–8 weeks to track progress and pick up your next sets of aligners.
  5. Retention — once treatment is complete, we fit you with a retainer to hold your new smile in place.

How long does Invisalign take?

Most adult cases take 12–18 months, though mild cases can finish in as little as 6 months and more complex cases may take longer. We’ll give you a specific estimate — not a generic range — once we’ve reviewed your scan.

How much does Invisalign cost in Calgary?

Invisalign in Calgary typically runs $4,500–$8,000, depending on case complexity and treatment length. At your consultation, we’ll give you an exact quote — no guessing.

Most dental insurance plans that cover orthodontics apply the same benefit to Invisalign as traditional braces — we’ll check your coverage for you. We also offer in-house payment plans to spread the cost over your treatment period.

A note on CDCP: The Canadian Dental Care Plan does not cover orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign. If you’re a CDCP patient interested in straightening your teeth, ask us about financing at your consultation.

How is Invisalign different from braces?

  • Visibility: Nearly invisible vs. visible metal or ceramic brackets
  • Removable: Yes, for eating and brushing vs. fixed to teeth
  • Diet: No restrictions (aligners come out to eat) vs. avoid sticky/hard foods
  • Oral hygiene: Normal brushing and flossing vs. extra cleaning required around brackets
  • Best for: Mild–moderate cases vs. mild–severe/complex cases
  • Typical timeline: 12–18 months vs. 18–24 months

Does Invisalign really work as well as braces?

For mild to moderate alignment issues, yes — clinical outcomes are comparable. For severe bite problems or complex rotations, traditional braces sometimes achieve results Invisalign can’t. We’ll tell you honestly which category your case falls into.

Is Invisalign covered by CDCP?

No. The Canadian Dental Care Plan does not cover orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign or traditional braces. We offer in-house financing if cost is a barrier.

Does insurance cover Invisalign?

Most private dental plans with an orthodontic benefit cover Invisalign the same way they’d cover braces. We’ll verify your specific coverage before you commit to treatment.

How often do I need to wear my aligners?

20–22 hours per day for treatment to stay on schedule. Aligners only come out to eat, drink anything but water, and brush/floss.

Can adults get Invisalign, or is it just for teens?

The majority of our Invisalign patients are adults. There’s no upper age limit — as long as your gums and bone are healthy enough to support tooth movement, you’re a candidate.
